Our Practice

What we provide

Foundations is a compassionate and supportive psychotherapy practice dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges. We offer a range of therapeutic services tailored to meet the unique needs of children, adolescents, and adults.

We understand that each person’s journey is different. Our experienced and compassionate therapists use evidence-based approaches to address a variety of needs, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, behavioral challenges, and more. We strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, develop coping skills, and work toward personal growth.

At Foundations, we are committed to providing personalized care that honors each individual’s strengths and values. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family as a whole, we are here to help you on your path toward healing and growth.

Individual Therapy

  • Children/Adolescents: We offer therapy to young people, in collaboration with their caregivers, as they navigate the challenges of self-esteem, peer pressure, identity, anxiety, depression, school, and family dynamics.

  • Adults: For adults dealing with life transitions, stress, relationship issues, or mental health struggles, we provide individual therapy that helps foster resilience and healing.

Couples Therapy: We offer couples counseling to help partners improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationships.

Family Therapy: Our family therapy services focus on improving the family system, resolving conflicts, and fostering stronger connections between each member.

Social Skills Groups: For older children and adolescents, we offer groups that focus on learning and practicing social skills with other same-aged peers.

Our foundation

John and Kevin first met in 2008 while working at an agency based in Northern Virginia that served children and families throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan community. They provided in-home counseling services; engaged in crisis intervention; taught parenting classes; and collaborated with family and social services, local schools, doctors, and private mental health professionals. After their time in community-based services, they each joined thriving group practices to provide outpatient psychotherapy. With a wealth of diverse clinical experience, John and Kevin opened Foundations in October 2024.
